Async (Homework) Session Modes on Quizizz

Session modes on Quizizz for asynchronous homework sessions offer flexibility for self-directed learning, practice, and evaluations. As a teacher, you can select the mode for an asynchronous session when assigning it.


To do this, select the resource you want to assign your students as an asynchronous session or homework and click on 'Assign.' 

Each mode supports different learning objectives that help you create the right learning experience based on your teaching or assessment goals. 

Here are the different session modes you can choose from for asynchronous sessions:

  1. Available with Assessments/Quizzes

    In Practice mode, students progress independently at their own pace while receiving instant feedback. This mode is ideal for self-paced learning and allows students to revisit and retry questions to reinforce understanding.

    Here are the session settings available with this mode:

    Start-End time
    ‣ Assign to a class
    ‣ Accommodations
    ‣ Differentiated versions
    ‣ Redemption questions (Default: ON)
    ‣ Question Timer
    ‣ Solution Breakdown (Default: OFF)
    ‣ AI Answer Explanations (Will be turned OFF if 'Redemption Questions' is turned ON)
    ‣ Show answers during session
    ‣ Show answers after session (Default: ON)
    ‣ Shuffle questions and answer options (Default: ON)
    ‣ Question Timer (Adjustable)
    ‣ Skip questions and attempt later (Default: OFF)
    ‣ Name Factory (Default: OFF)
    ‣ Power-ups (Default: ON)
    ‣ Leaderboard (Default: ON)
    ‣ Play music (Default: ON)
    ‣ Show memes (Default: OFF)

  2. Available with Assessments/Quizzes

    This mode helps students build confidence through repeated practice until they master key concepts. Students aim to achieve a set accuracy goal by reattempting incorrectly answered questions.

    Here are the session settings available with this mode:

    ‣ Start-End time
    ‣ Assign to a class
    ‣ Accommodations
    ‣ Differentiated versions
    ‣ Participant attempts
    ‣ Mastery goal (Default: 80%)
    ‣ Reattempts per question (Default: 2)
    ‣ Show answers during session (Options: ON, Validate only)
    ‣ Show answers after session (All three options, Default: ON)
    ‣ Shuffle questions and answer options (Default: ON)
    ‣ Name Factory (Default: OFF)
    ‣ Play music (Default: ON)
    ‣ Show memes (Default: OFF)

  3. Available with Assessments/Quizzes

    Testing mode is designed for formal assessments, ensuring a distraction-free environment. Students complete the session with minimal assistance, making it ideal for measuring learning outcomes.
