Flashcards are fantastic tools for helping students remember, practice, and retain information better. They are particularly beneficial for learners who respond well to visual and auditory learning resources.
This article will explain how to assign Quizizz Flashcards to your students and the different modes in which these Flashcards can be played.

How to assign Flashcards to your students
- Select the Flashcards set you want to assign to your students
- Click on 'Assign' or 'Start now'
- Set preferences by deadline, start and end time, etc.
- You can also enable Accommodations if you want to support your students with differentiated instruction
- You can also select a class you want to assign the Flashcards to
- Click on the 'Select a class' button, and choose the class you wish to assign the activity to
- In case you do not want to assign the activity to the entire class but want to assign it to specific students from the class, click on 'Pick specific students', select the students, and click on 'Confirm')
- In case you do not want to assign the activity to the entire class but want to assign it to specific students from the class, click on 'Pick specific students', select the students, and click on 'Confirm')
- Click on 'Next', and continue to add assignment details to this activity (assignment name & description
- Click on 'Next'
- Click on the 'Select a class' button, and choose the class you wish to assign the activity to
- Toggle on the 'Shuffle flashcards' option if you want to prevent your students from memorizing the order of the flashcards
- Once you have set all the desired preferences, click on 'Assign' or 'Start', depending on the type of activity you selected (homework or live, respectively)
- Now, share the join code or link of the activity with your students

To join this activity, students
- can click on quizizz.com/join/ and enter the code you have shared, along with their names
- can use the join code you share via an LMS (Learning Management System) like Google Classroom, MS Teams, Canvas, etc.
- can scan the QR code shared by you from their devices
- can join via the link shared by you
- can go to the Flashcards section on their dashboard if you have assigned them these Flashcards through classes (see step #4 above)
- In the Reports page, select the Flashcards activity to monitor which student has completed the activity
Student experience
To join a Flashcards session, students can:
- click on quizizz.com/join/ and enter the code you have shared, along with their names
- can use the join code you share via an LMS (Learning Management System) like Google Classroom, MS Teams, Canvas, etc.
- scan the QR code shared by you from their devices
- join via the link shared by you
- go to the Flashcards section on their dashboard if you have assigned them these Flashcards through classes
Once they start the session, students can:
- click on a flashcard to flip it (keyboard shortcut: spacebar )
- click on the 'I know' button if they know the answer after flipping the flashcard (keyboard shortcut: left arrow key )
- click on the 'I'm learning' button if they don't know the answer after flipping the flashcard (keyboard shortcut: right arrow key )
- can revisit the previous flashcard and undo their last answer to correct accidental clicks by clicking on the undo button () located on the left side of the flashcard (keyboard shortcut: ⌘ + z or ctrl + z)
- Note that the undo function can only revisit the previous card and not the ones before it
After completing a flashcard session, students can view their Confidence score on the summary screen. This score provides a quick overview of how many flashcards they know and how many they don't. They can then click the 'Learn now' button to revisit and practice the flashcards they struggled with.
The Flashcards section of the student dashboard will display all completed and assigned flashcard sets and their Confidence scores. Students can visit and revisit these flashcard sets to practice, self-assess, and master memorizing information.
Students can even earn coins on completing a newly assigned Flashcards set. These coins can then be used to customize Qbits.
