Flashcard game modes and student experience
Flashcards can be played in two, and possibly three, modes:
Practice mode
Assign a set of Flashcards to your students in Practice mode to encourage active recall of information and repeated exposure to it. This is ideal for long-term retention of concepts. Students can flip a flashcard and assess themselves by clicking on the 'I know' bucket if they know the answer or clicking on the 'I'm learning' bucket if they don't.
If they don't know the answer, clicking on the 'I'm learning' bucket will prompt the same Flashcard to reappear later for another attempt. To complete the Flashcard set, they must know the answers to all of the flashcards.
Pre-read mode
If you assign your students a set of Flashcards in the Pre-read mode, they can use these Flashcards to familiarize themselves with new information before starting a new topic or lesson.
Students simply need to flip through each Flashcard and use arrow buttons to navigate to the next.
Solo Mode
After attempting a set of flashcards, students can revisit them from their Dashboard under the 'Completed' section. They will now have the option to choose to play these Flashcards in Practice Mode or Pre-read Mode.
This gives students the autonomy and agency to practice, self-assess, and master memorizing information.
Additionally, in the student dashboard, there is a dedicated section that contains all the Flashcards assigned to or completed by the student.
