Create and Assign Differentiated Versions of the Same Assessment/Quiz

Quizizz now offers an exciting feature that allows you to create and assign differentiated versions of an Assessment/Quiz! With this feature, you can create variations of the same Assessment/Quiz with different difficulty levels and a reduced number of questions for easy, medium, and hard versions with just a few clicks! It's a great way to make sure every student gets the right level of challenge.

This guide will show you how to easily create and set up these differentiated versions, assign them to your students, and check their progress.

Note: This feature is only available for:

  • English/ELA Assessments/Quizzes
  • Classic and homework (Assign) modes

Creating differentiated versions of an Assessment/Quiz

  1. Select the desired Assessment/Quiz from your Library section
  2. Click on the  'Create +' button placed next to the 'Create differentiated version' option from the Assessment/Quiz page
  3. Set the number of questions and difficulty level for the new version as desired
  4. Click on the  'Create version +' button
  5. Once Quizizz AI generates questions for the required version, review the questions
  6. You can 'Re-generate' the results if you're not happy with the generated questions. If you're happy with the questions, click on 'Save'

If you want to create more versions of the same Assessment/Quiz,

  1. Click on the 'Create new version +' button located on the bottom left side of your screen
  2. Set the number of questions and difficulty level for the new version as desired
  3. Click on the 'Create version +' button
  4. Once Quizizz AI generates new questions for the required version, review the questions
  5. You can 'Re-generate' the results if you're not happy with the generated questions. If you're happy with the questions, click on 'Save'



  6. This version will be added to the list of differentiated versions on the left side of your page
  7. Repeat the same steps to create more versions
  8. You can also:
    1. select a version, then click 'Compare' to compare content its content with that of the original Assessment/Quiz
    2. click on the trash icon () to delete a version
    3. click on the edit icon next to a generated question to modify or edit it



  9. Once you're finished and satisfied with all the versions, click on the '' button located at the top left corner of your screen

Assigning the versions to your students

Once you have created and saved the required versions of the Assessment/Quiz,

  1. Click on 'Start now' if you want to start a live session, or click on 'Assign' to assign it as homework

    Note: This feature is only available for English/ELA Assessments/Quizzes in Classic and Assign (homework) modes.

  2. Find the 'Differentiated Versions' option, and click on the 'Select' button next to it
  3. From the left side of your screen, choose the students to whom you want to assign a version
  4. From the right side of your screen, choose the version you wish to assign to the selected students
  5. Click on 'Save changes'



  6. Repeat the same process to assign different versions to different students
  7. Once you're done with assigning different versions of the Assessment/Quiz to different students, click on the 'Done' button from the top right corner of your screen 
  8. Set the remaining game setting preferences, and click on 'Start' or 'Assign' to host the game live or assign it as homework, respectively

And done! Your students can now participate in respective versions of the same Assessment/Quiz.

Once the activity is assigned, you can view the results for each participant on the Assessment/Quiz Reports page. Additionally, you can view results per each version of the Assessment/Quiz.
