Accommodations Available on Quizizz

At Quizizz, we understand that students thrive when their unique learning needs are met. 

With Accommodations, you can quickly provide specific accommodations to groups of students in your class. By doing so, you'll save time by assigning the same task to your entire class while ensuring you offer compliant scaffolded experiences for your students.

Basic Accommodations

1. 
   
   Available for Assessments/Quizzes, Interactive Videos, and Passages
   
   With this, you can choose how much extra time your students get for each question. Students will get the regular time for each question plus the extra time you set. This way, students who need a bit of extra time get the chance to engage and participate fully in a session.

2. 
   
   Available for Assessments/Quizzes, Interactive Videos, and Passages
   
   With this, you can select the number of attempts (up to 3) your students get for a session. After their initial try, they will see a 'Retry' button, enabling them to try a question again. This helps students learn better by giving them multiple chances to succeed.

   Available for Assessments/Quizzes, Lessons, Interactive Videos, Passages, and Flashcards
   
   This Accommodation will activate the text-to-speech functionality, which reads text aloud to students, assisting participants who may benefit from auditory learning or have difficulty reading text independently.
   
   

Question Settings

   This Accommodation lets students try questions again if they answered them wrong the first time. It's like a do-over that helps students understand better. So, they get a chance to fix their mistakes and learn more effectively.

   You can decrease the number of answer choices available to your students from the default set of options, allowing for two or three choices instead of the usual range. This simplifies the decision-making process for students, making it easier for them to select the correct answer.

Math Tools

   Available for Assessments/Quizzes, Lessons, Interactive Videos, and Passages
   
   Enabling this Accommodation allows your students to use the Desmos Scientific Calculator during a session. All they need to do is click on the 'Tools' button followed by the 'Calculator' button, and the Desmos Scientific Calculator will appear on their screen. This calculator offers advanced features for evaluating percentages, fractions, exponential functions, logarithms, trigonometry, etc.
   
   

2. 
   
   Available for Assessments/Quizzes, Lessons, Interactive Videos, and Passages
   
   This Accommodation will enable your students to use the Desmos Graphing Calculator to plot points, graph curves, evaluate functions, and more. This would help students better understand mathematical concepts and use higher-level approaches to solving math problems. They can access this calculator by clicking on 'Tools' followed by the 'Graphing' option.

Reading Support

   Available for Assessments/Quizzes, Lessons, Interactive Videos, Passages, and Flashcards
   
   Once you enable this Accommodation, the on-screen text will be translated into preferred languages. Students can then engage with content in their preferred language, hence improving understanding and inclusivity.
   
   The following languages are supported under this feature:
   Spanish, Bahasa Indonesia, Vietnamese, Russian, Hindi, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Korean, Japanese, Malay, French, Portuguese, Irish, Haitian Creole, Punjabi, Urdu, Hmong, Ukrainian, Polish, Romanian, German, Gujarati, Armenian, Hebrew, Tagalog, and Yoruba

   With this Accommodation, students can access translations for difficult words while answering questions by simply clicking on the 'Tools' button followed by the 'Dictionary' button. This feature can help students understand difficult words while engaging with Quizizz resources. 
   
   The following languages are supported under this feature:
   Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Hindi, Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Urdu, Hmong, Ukrainian, Romanian, German, Gujarati, Armenian, Hebrew, Tagalog, and Yoruba

   This option allows you to activate the dyslexia font for your students. Students assigned this font will see questions displayed in the font. This supports students with dyslexia by providing a font designed to improve readability and reduce visual stress.

   Available for Assessments/Quizzes, Lessons, Interactive Videos, Passages, and Flashcards
   
   With this Accommodation enabled, students can modify the font size of the text, ranging from default to medium or large. This Accommodation personlizes the text display based on your students' requirements, promoting comfortable reading and understanding.
   
   

5. 
   
   Available for Assessments/Quizzes, Lessons, Interactive Videos, Passages, and Flashcards
   
   Students can determine the font spacing of on-screen text by choosing from default, medium, or high spacing options. Adjusting font spacing can enhance readability and accessibility, which provides a more comfortable reading experience tailored to your students' preferences and requirements.
   
   

Learning Environment

1. 
   
   Available for Assessments/Quizzes, Interactive Videos, and Passages
   
   When you activate this Accommodation for a group of students, they won't see the leaderboard after each question on their screens. This helps students focus solely on answering questions without the distraction of constantly seeing their peers' scores. 
   
   

2. 
   
   Available for Assessments/Quizzes, Lessons, Interactive Videos, Passages, and Flashcards
   
   With this setting turned on, students won't hear any background music while participating in a Quizizz session. They also won't hear the sounds that play when they answer a question correctly or incorrectly. This helps create a quieter environment for students who might find music distracting, allowing them to concentrate better. 

Accommodations exclusively for Lessons

   Available for Lessons
   
   When you enable this Lesson-specific Accommodation, students can access a separate tab with all lesson slides. Here, they can view all the lesson slides with all the annotations and notes created during the session.
   
   They can access this tab by clicking on the 'Tools' button followed by the 'Notes to refer' option.
   
   This feature is particularly helpful for students who may find it overwhelming to take notes while following along in a teacher-paced lesson. With Notes to Refer, students can review previous slides at their own pace, revisit important details, and use these references when answering questions. They can also save and download these notes for future use and have ongoing access to essential lesson content.
   
   
2. 
   
   Available for Lessons
   
   This Lesson-specific Accommodation makes reading the content on slides easier for students. When you turn this Accommodation on for a student, the slides in a lesson will be represented in a distraction-free and reading-friendly mode.
   
   This will help students with visual challenges by making reading more accessible and tailored to their needs, so they can focus better on learning. 
   
   If accommodations such as Translate, Dyslexia Font, Font Spacing, and Font Size are enabled for a student in addition to 'Reading Mode', the accommodated text will be visible in the reading mode section. 
   
   
   
   Furthermore, the text available for reading will also include descriptions of any images on a slide.
