Common Assessments on Quizizz are standardized formative assessments collaboratively designed by administrators and teachers. A Common Assessment can be administered to all students at a grade level and course across the entire school year.

Students participate in Common Assessments in a no-frills Focus Mode on a student-friendly Quizizz interface, making the assessment participation experience focused, seamless, and engaging. This article will discuss how students can attempt a Common Assessment and maximize their chances of scoring their best.

To learn more about this feature, take a look at Common Assessments: An Overview.

How to join a Common Assessment

  1. Log into Quizizz with the same email used to create the class roster by your teacher
    • This is crucial for your participation to be recorded correctly
  2. An assessment notification will appear on your screen (once your teacher starts the assessment in your class)
    • You can also find it under the 'Assigned Activities' section on the student home page
  3. Click on the ‘Join Game’ button on the activity
  4. Click on the ‘Start game in full-screen mode’ button to ensure focus and minimize distractions
  5. After joining, you'll be placed in the assessment lobby
    1. Wait here until your teacher starts the assessment
    2. The lobby is where all participants gather before the assessment officially begins
  6. When your teacher clicks 'Start', the timer will begin, and you can start answering questions

How to resume the assessment in case of technical issues

In case of any technical disruptions, you can resume the assessment and continue answering from where you left off.

  1. Go to your Home page and click on the Common Assessment pop-up
  2. Click on the 'Resume' button to resume working on the assessment

Note: You cannot resume the assessment if your teacher has closed the assessment or you have already submitted your test

Navigating questions

Skip

If you're unsure about a question initially, it’s always better to focus first on those you're confident in answering. This way, you can optimize your score and manage time effectively.

Click on the ‘Skip’ button from the bottom right side of your screen to skip answering a question.

Any progress on any attempted but skipped question will be saved so you can return to it at the end of the game.

Mark for review

You can revise and refine an answer before the final submission. This helps you double-check your work and make corrections before submitting your answer.

Click on the ‘Mark for review’ button from the bottom left of your screen to mark a question for review before the final submission.

Before your final submission, utilize the ‘Review all answers before submitting’ option to ensure all your answers are as intended and maximize your assessment score.

Submit

Once you’re happy with your answers, click on the ‘Submit Test’ button to submit your test.
