What are Common Assessments?
Common Assessments are standards-based tests that are administered to all students in a grade or course at regular intervals in the school year. Aligned with the district’s unique curriculum, they provide insights into student proficiency, identify learning gaps across the class, school, and district levels and guide targeted support, ensuring equitable learning outcomes for all students.
How does this feature work?
Common Assessments follow this sequence:
- Authoring: A team of teachers work together to develop an assessment that is tailored to the specific needs of the students and the district's curriculum. Quizizz offers a range of question types that encourage higher-order thinking and allow students to effectively showcase their understanding.
- Distributing a Common Assessment: The district administrator initiates a Common Assessment from the above assessment, assigns it to course teachers, and sets the start and end times for the teachers to administer it.
- Administration: A teacher administers the Common Assessment to their class within the designated timeframe.
- Student participation: Students participate in the teacher-led Common Assessment, which includes individualized Accommodations to support diverse needs and Focus Mode to minimize distractions and prevent cheating.
- District-wide insights: Our aggregated reports allow the creator of the Common Assessment to track progress and gain valuable insights across the school district.
