There are multiple settings that you can change before starting a quiz. You can see the settings menu after selecting your preferred game type — Live or Homework on the quiz page.
All the game settings are under Advanced Settings. They are further divided into General Settings and Activity Settings.
General Settings
Participant attempts
This setting lets you control the number of attempts made by students in a quiz. However, enabling this setting would require students to log into their Quizizz account to attempt the quiz.
Name factory
The Quizizz Name Factory generates names for your students to inspire creativity and avoid wasted class time. Click here to know how it works.
Show answers during activity
This setting controls the feedback that students see right after answering a question. You can toggle whether they get immediate feedback on getting an answer correct/incorrect, and also whether or not to show them all the questions with their correct answers at the end of the quiz.
If this option is turned OFF your students will not be able to see the correct answer after each question they attempt, nor will they be able to know if they got the answer right immediately after attempting the question.
If you select Validate only, the student will get feedback on whether or not they got a question correct, but they will not be shown the correct answer if they get a question incorrect.
When set to ON, students get to see whether they got the question correct/incorrect, along with the correct answer.
Show answers after activity
This setting controls the display of the review section for the students at the end of the game. Turn this ON to allow your students to review the questions and their correct answers. Select Questions only to allow your students to see only the question and option choices (the correct answer won't be highlighted).
If this is turned OFF, students won't be able to review the questions or answers after the quiz.
Adaptive Learning
When toggled on, every student attempting the quiz is shown a different set of questions, which changes with each additional attempt. Every attempt, after the first one, showcases unseen questions and ones that students previously got incorrect. As a result, each attempt leads to a unique set of questions and a more meaningful and personalized learning experience for every student. Click here to know more.
Activity Settings
The Timer awards points on the basis of accuracy and speed.
- Default Timer: 600 points for answering a question correctly. 0-400 points for how quickly they answer. Wrong answers are marked zero, regardless of the time taken to answer
- Test Timer (available for the Quizizz Individual (Super) plan): A question is “timed out” if students exceed the time limit in answering the question. Timed out questions are marked zero, regardless of right or wrong answers
- Timer Off: You can disable the Timer - a student is awarded 600 points for the right answer and 0 for the wrong answer, regardless of speed.
Show Leaderboard
If this is turned ON , students will see a leaderboard after each question, and see their rank during and after the quiz.
Turn this OFF if you don't want students to see each others' scores/rank or are not keen on making the quiz competitive.
Shuffle questions
If this is turned ON , each of your students will receive the questions in a different order. This makes it difficult for students to "get help" from each other (ergo, no cheating). :)
Turn this OFF if you want the questions to appear in the original order for everyone.
Shuffle answer options
If this is turned ON , the answers will be shuffled for each question (each student gets a different order.) This is ideal when you don't want to worry about shuffling the answers while creating the quiz.
Turn this OFF if you want the answers to appear in the original order for everyone.
Show memes
If this is ON , students will see funny images (called memes) after each question. You can also create your own meme sets! Click here to see how.
Turn this OFF if you do not want your students to see memes during the quiz.
We automatically save your preferred settings for both live and homework games. This spares you from the hassle of changing settings every time you play a quiz (unless you want to). Every time you start a new live or homework game, we pick up the settings you used in your previous game. You can choose different settings for live and homework games — we've got you covered there, too!
Play Music
Toggle this setting to enable Quizizz music to be played on students' devices. The Quizizz music played from your device will be different from the music played on the students' devices. This option is turned off by default.
